Our History
In late 1949, a group of friends decided to form a new Country Club. With Sylvan Cohen, one of Philadelphia’s most respected attorneys, leading the effort, the group founded Meadowlands, now “Bluestone Country Club”.
The original purchase included 130 acres plus the manor house, swimming pool, stables, and additional facilities. Now known as “The Country House,” the stone manor that greeted visitors was a handsome and dignified structure, essentially Georgian in overall design, partially vine-clad, with tall, graceful chimneys punctuating the long roofline. Flowering shrubs and mature hardwoods framed the entire complex.

The golf course was built on open and very gently rolling land, where cattle and horses had grazed for years. When updated in the mid-’90s, seven new holes were created, a number of others were revised, trees were removed, and water was brought into play as the par-71 Championship Course became a more contemporary and stimulating test of golf.

Under Bluestone’s Master Plan, we will continuously work to ensure that our course remains a solid test that showcases the best of conditions. The Championship Course at Bluestone Country Club will continue to greet all who play it with fresh challenges and endless enjoyment.
